The Church’s Online Presence and Ecclesial Communion: Virtual or Real?

Summary: The Covid-19 pandemic forced church leaders to intensify the use of digital information and communication technology in order to be present to and maintain communion with the faithful and beyond. In light of this unprecedented incorporation of ICT in the life of the church brought about by the pandemic, there needs to be a more insightful understanding of the nature and quality of this digitally mediated presence. A deeper appreciation of online presence will be beneficial to the post-pandemic church as it navigates between the digital and analog spaces in order to carry out the mission of evangelization.
